AT THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART

x`
An Attempt at Poetry Aug. 4, 2021

At the bottom of my heart sits you.

Waiting patiently

Hoping continuously

Begging profusely

Eating me alive with your cries.

It is not a warm place

The bottom of my heart

You constantly shiver from the cold,

And even when I grant you a little warmth,

You constantly shiver from loneliness

To be let out,

That is what you want

To feel the taste of freedom on your tongue

To feel it in your bones

To cry, cry that you have finally been liberated

But I don't let you out

I never let you out

So you continue sitting there

At the bottom of my heart

Planning…

Sometimes smiling

Sometimes losing hope

Sometimes feeling guilty

I wonder

Is your freedom really that important?

Don’t you like being here?

At the bottom of my heart

A slave to me, a lover to me?
